Douglas P. Gibson, Psy.D., MPH, ABPP

Dr. Gibson completed his Psy.D. and M.P.H. at Nova Southeastern University and is a Clinical Neuropsychologist also Board Certified in Clinical Health Psychology. Prior to his return to NSU, Dr. Gibson was an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He is presently an Associate Professor of Psychology at Nova Southeastern University where he teaches, supervises and conducts research in clinical, health and neuropsychology. Dr. Gibson has published research in the area of heart rate variability and has utilized HRV as both a biomarker for PTSD as well as the enhancement of peak performance in elite athletes and military personnel. Dr. Gibson has worked and instructed in intelligence/national security and remains a reserve officer in the U.S. Army. He is actively involved in research with concussion and other traumatic brain injury, including injury related to contact sports.
